Men's Foil / USFA Captain
Caleb is a third year from North Kingstown, Rhode Island. He is currently pursuing a major in Biology. Caleb has been fencing for about 8 years, receiving his training in foil at the Rhode Island Fencing Academy and Club (RIFAC). Caleb plans to use his experience to help create a welcoming environment for fencers of various levels, and to help introduce new people to the world of fencing. He looks forward to commanding his team with an iron fist, and crushing his enemies.

Matt is a fourth-year history major, and has been fencing since the spring of '14. He holds the current Flaming Blade "Enthusiasm Award," as he is the most prominent breaker of weapons on the team. When not in en garde, Matt plays as a member of the Gruffs (Oberlin's Male Rugby Club).
Men's Epee / Armorer
Orion is a third year Computer Science major from the suburbs of Chicago fencing on the men's epee team.
Men's Epee / Treasurer
Philip only recently arrived at Oberlin College, having gotten lost in an underwater cavern and swimming four thousand miles only to surface in the middle of Ohio. Philip's pursuits include being in the ten percent of people using the correct hand to fence, playing modern, and diving.
Meg Brown / Secretary / Class of '06
Meg Brown, former secretary of the Flaming Blades, is now a PhD candidate in English at Florida State University, currently researching Book History on a Mellon-CLIR fellowship in England.
Nick Ferrara / Sabre / Class of '08
Nick Ferrara majored in Computer Science and Politics at Oberlin. He is currently an IT litigation consulting with DisputeSoft, a small consulting firm in MD. Nick recently took 22/119 in Division II Men's Sabre at the 2012 Cincinnati North American Cup, tied 9/66 in Mixed Sabre at the 2012 Cherry Blossom Open (one of the largest tournaments on the east coast), and 1st place at the 5th Annual Stabbed in the Heart Open. He continues to wear rainbow colored knee socks in honor of his college team with pride. Nick now fencers at DC Fencer's Club in Silver Spring, MD, and Rockville Fencing Academy in Rockville, MD.
Ardon Shorr / USFA Captain / Class of '09
You can blame Ardon if you've ever wondered why we have an armory in Hales, a rolling spray-painted box, or why your name is suddenly "meatball." Ardon taught the fencing ExCo at Oberlin and at the New Amsterdam Fencing Academy in Manhattan. He studied neuroscience and music theory, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in biology at Carnegie Mellon.
Greg Solow / Captain / Faculty Advisor / Class of '10
Greg Solow entered the ranks of the Flaming Blades in the fall of the Year of Our Lord 2006, when, quite serendipitously, the draping of an OCFB t-shirt over an attractive female frame provoked in him the notion that maybe it wasn't a horrible idea to take up his old high school sword-sticking habit. A year later, he was NCAA Captain, where in some horrid inversion of logic he did not destroy the team utterly, but instead led it to a period of growth and prosperity. Wow!
Just when he thought his tenure with the team was over, however, the true cost for this success was made apparent: despite all attempts to leave Oberlin after his graduation in 2010, the town kept beckoning, calling, dragging him back into its depths. First in various small ventures, and then into the employment of the Conservatory Library, where he serves as Circulation Coordinator and, having come full-circle again to his origins, the staff advisor for the Oberlin College Flaming Blades.
There was a time before Greg. The metaphysical argument continues concerning whether or not if, like other essential forces of the universe, there will be one after him.
